BOB COMMER
AWARD OF EXCELLENCE
IN UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHY

The SEA International Competition, including the Bob Commer Award of Excellence in Underwater Photography, is a prestigious underwater photography and underwater vidography competition open to amateur photographers and videographers from around the world. The Bob Commer award consists of a beautiful handcrafted glass trophy and a $500 (USD) prize, awarded to the SEA Best of Show in addition to a selected prize from the prize list! All media; digital still, print and video, are eligible. More about the Bob Commer Award

Award sponsors of the SEA 2008 competition include SCUBA ecotourism resorts, travel agencies, and luxury live-aboards; as well as SCUBA and photography equipment manufacturers. Previous competitions have brought in hundreds of the finest still image, print, and video entries from underwater photographers all around the world!

The SEA 2008 underwater photographic competition will issue awards for the best work in categories including Macro, Wide Angle, Underwater California and Marine Conservation; a traditional print category; creative categories in print and digital, and a video category. Please read the 2008 Rules and Regulations for further description of categories.

In its second year at the SEA competition is the Marine Conservation Category. The entries in this category should illustrate a marine conservation issue; whether it is an endangered or rare species or environment, an illustration of a non-sustainable fishery; or something positive, such as re-growth of an environment, return of an endangered species, or an illustration of the benefits of artificial reefs. See the rules and regulations for more information. The 2007 Marine Conservation Category entries are displayed on the SEA Marine Conservation webpage.

DIGITAL STILL, PRINT AND VIDEO ONLY!

The SEA competition no longer offers any 35 mm slide categories. Slides may be scanned and submitted in digital still classes with the same specifications as images taken with a digital still camera.
